To my shipmate, friend, and kabalen.....Joel, I have tears in my eyes while typing this paragraph. Remembering the days when you come to my house and we talk several hours discussing your personal and professional goals. I enjoyed being one of your mentor because you were an active listener, asked intriguing questions, showed solid self confidence, self motivated, very measured, very defined, very bright, and very positive.
I always smile whenever I see the list for promotions, and I was so excited seeing your name on the promotion list. During my official visit in Bahrain in 2007, I have told you that you are on the FAST TRACK for Commander, and you are one of the most competitive Officer for any tough positions. I have been telling our kabalens that you are and you will always be a great candidate for an early pick for promotions. You are the MAN!!
My brother...I was broken hearted when I heard about the sad news yesterday. I'm still in severe denial that you and I will not be able to discuss your exciting career path nor talk about your retirement ceremony. I've lost a brother and a great friend. My wife and I will continue grieving and we will try to recover from this lost through prayers.
With much Love, and Utmost Admiration..Kong Jess and Sis Grace Matudio, San Diego, Ca.
